We know how hard it can be to dress your baby bump and the even worst...post baby bump! There's nothing worse than feeling like nothing looks good on you. We have both been there through our pregnancy's and Sarah is currently in the post bump phase. What we CAN say is that there are clothes you can wear that help to accentuate the good parts of your body without making the other parts you don't want accentuated stand out.
So lets talk about THE BABY BUMP: We both like wearing clothes that show off the bump and hide the other "lump" aka the booty. Because... that "lump" only seems to get bigger and bigger and more cottage cheesy and just blah. lol And okay, the muffin tops is REAL. So wearing tops or dresses that have ruching (don't know how to spell that) or the gathering (like the maternity dresses we are wearing above) really helps hide the love handles and accentuate your cute bump! Another style we love to wear, are looser shirts that covers the bump, and then belting it above your baby bump. This gives the illusion that you have a smaller waist and makes your cute bump stand out! While I, (Ashlyn), was in my awkward "is she pregnant or is that a beer belly" phase, I wore looser shirts to hide my little bump because anything tight just made me look like I hit the freshman 15. lol. I didn't really start showing I was actually pregnant until I hit like 21 weeks- so that first trimesterish was a little rough. I mostly just wore workout clothes and looser shirts with leggings and it hid my awkward bump pretty good! I just discovered this shop online and they have the cutest maternity clothes with a SUPER great price point: BooHoo THE POST BABY BUMP: No one wants to go through the post baby bump phase, BUT it just happens. It would be amazing if your body could go right back to the way it was after the baby popped out. But that is just fantasy, so here are some tips to help shrink your bump and some other ways to dress it! I, (Sarah), found a great product that helped me shrink my bump while I basically did nothing! It is called the Belly Bandit-find it here. It is basically a corset that you wear for a couple hours a day, and it is designed to shrink your belly. I wish it was a cure all, but it just kinda helps bring it down..slowly. So here's a couple things you could do if you are struggling with your belly- 1: Wear the corset or belly wrap under your clothes. That way you can wear it all day and it will make you look slimmer. 2: Wear spandex under your tops- find it here 3: Wear high waist jeans or look joggers to help tuck in your love handles and/or belly 4: Wear looser tops with skinny jeans/boy friend jeans/leggings We are going to be on Good Things Utah show on Thursday April 6th at 9 am. So all our Utah peeps, be sure to tune in if you could benefit from some tips! Thanks so much for reading! We hope you have a great week!! We are seriously so excited to announce that Ashlyn is expecting a baby coming August 3rd!! We had always talked about being pregnant together and it actually happened! We are about 5 months apart from each other, and it is so fun to be able to share this experience together especially since it is the first for both of us, not to mention all the pregnancy cravings we will be able to eat together now! ;)
One of our biggest weaknesses lately have been sweets! Anything with lots and lots of sugar is something we just can't resist. Anyone else obsessed with cupcake wars on the food network channel?? Okay, well every time we watch that show together we get the biggest sweet tooth and have to have a cupcake at that moment! Luckily we live fairly close to the Sweet Tooth Fairy cupcake shop in downtown Provo so we headed down there and had ourselves a delicious cupcake! Ashlyn here- I seriously had no idea what to expect getting pregnant. I just thought I would get pregnant (actually not that easily) and boom, all fun and games. But I really got hit with a rude awakening. I am 13 weeks now, but for the last 8 weeks I have been super sick. I spent a whole week in bed, due to nausea. I had no idea that this was what a lot of women went through! I don't know if I just had it worse or was more of a wimp, but it really took a toll on me. I had no energy to get out of bed and do simple tasks around the house or running errands. Eating made me throw up and even my prenatal pill was hard to keep down. Just making food was to painful to do, so I ended up losing more than 10 pounds during that time. Now that I am just getting over my first trimester, it has really settled down. The waves of sickness come and go, and I still don't have much of an appetite, but I am so grateful that I can do more normal things. Currently I have had a cold for the past 2 1/2-3 weeks. My doctor said I am fine taking Tylenol Cold medicine, but it still makes me a bit nervous. Any advice on what to take when your sick during pregnancy?? Or holistic remedies? My sister told me about peppermint and oregano oil. All things aside I am soooo grateful and excited to be pregnant! It is such a blessing! We can't believe that we are pregnant together too. We would have never thought!! Thanks for reading guys! Any information or advice is so appreciated!!

One of my favorite go to outfits always include a dress of some sort. When you are pregnant you are constantly hot, and you don't want to feel restricted in tight jeans! I haven't officially started wearing maternity clothes yet, but I can definitely start to feel my pants getting tighter so I know its coming soon! The thing I love about wearing dresses is that I can wear most of my dresses that I already had prior to pregnancy, and I can layer then for fall! I love to pair dresses with cardigans, layer with long sleeves, or wear leggings underneath! Speaking of leggings.. Those are my second favorite thing to wear! I love wearing leggings because they are stretchy, comfortable, and you can wear them with almost anything as long as you cover your bum! One of the biggest mistakes people make with leggings is that they don't wear the right top with them. This goes for pregnant women, non pregnant women, 40 yr olds, 15 yr olds, anyone! If your top doesn't cover your bum then leggings should not be your choice of bottoms. Some of my favorite places to shop right now for clothes that I know will be comfortable and fashionable are Target, H&M, and Nordstrom Rack! I know I can always find a good cardigan, dress, long tunic, jacket, or leggings at any of these places, and now that it is turning into fall and winter shopping is more fun than ever! -Sarah |
