It has already been 6 weeks since our little Cece came into our lives and WOW has time flown by! Being a new mom I feel like you're pretty much in the dark as to what to really expect when that cute little human comes into this world. You will hear stories from your friends and families, sometimes good, sometimes bad, but it no baby is the same, and every mom is different. In these few short weeks of having Cece I have already found things that I cannot live without! Here are my top 5 baby must haves:
1. Chupe (Binki)
I was a nanny for 8 years to a family that always called their binki's "chupe". Chupe is binki in spanish and it always stuck with me. Plus, when my kid gets older and knows at least one bilingual word I'll feel pretty accomplished. ;)
Back why I love the chupe.. When I first had Cece I was pretty adamant that I didn't want her to take a pacifier because I didn't want her to be addicted to it and ruin her teeth yada yada.. All that went out the window the first week she was born. It all happened when Ash and I decided to go to the grocery store to pick up a few things and Cece was mad as all can be! She was screaming and people were looking at me like I was the worst mom ever because I couldn't calm her down. I was so embarrassed, and when I got home I stuck the chupe in her mouth and she immediately calmed down. It was like magic! Just for sanity sake, this thing is a must have on my list.
2. Nursing Pillow
For my baby shower registry I saw this at target and decided to put it on my list mainly because I had seen other moms have it and thought it was probably a good item to have. Little did I know how much of a live safer this would be for my back! Breast feeding I swear has killed my posture.. You're always hunched over feeding this little munchkin, and then you wonder why you look like a hunch back in all your pictures.. This nursing pillow fits right in between your waist and it props the baby up so you don't have to hunch over as much. Hallelujah!
3. Nursing Cover
So, I'm not one of those pro moms yet that know how to cover up using just a simple blanket, and Im not comfortable enough to just whip out the boob without any coverage however, I completely support those of you who do! More power to you girl! I got this nursing cover from my sister in law for Christmas and its awesome! It has multiple uses although I mostly just use it for nursing and as a cover for my carseat. I love it because it covers up completely, doesn't fall off when you love around like a typical blanket, and you can easily see your baby while your feeding. enough said, its great!
4. Owlet Baby Monitor
Ok guys, this is kind of a new product so you may or may not have heard about it, but if you're a paranoid mom like me and you feel like you're constantly checking on your baby you need this! Its a little pricey, but for me its definitely worth the peace of mind and the extra sleep i get.
5. Gripe Water
Ever since Cece was born she would wake up every morning half asleep and be grunting and kicking her little feet like something was making her uncomfortable. I would change her diaper, feed her, and it seemed like nothing helped. I researched a little and realized that it was gas that was giving her these uncomfortable feelings. I talked to my sister and she said all her babies did the same thing and that I need to get some gripe water. This stuff calms their tummies and helps with the gas pains and helps them feel more comfortable. I give this to her before I put her down at night and it helps so much!
So thats it for my top 5 must haves! Speaking of must haves.. If you are in the Utah County area and need new born pics, Jordan Reese Photography is AMAZING! Check out all these amazing newborn pictures she took of Cece. <3 She also did my pregnancy pics which feel like forever ago!
