I love experimenting with my hair when it's a couple days old and greasy, so I used my Paul Mitchell Dry Wash Shampoo to get rid of the greasiness and Color Bug hair chalk from Kevin Murphy to give me some color.
I love a good, thick and mess pony tail. It's a great hairstyle for summer, especially when you go to long, hot and sweaty baseball games (which is exactly what I did last night). Pony tails can be to boring for me sometimes, so that's why I like to experiment with hair chalk. I used my color bug chalk to give my ends a little color and loveliness and give my pony a little "umph".
I haven't used any other hair chalk before so I don't have anything to compare these ones too, but I really love Kevin Murphy's color bugs. They are super easy to use, non-messy, and have a great pigment, I didn't want my hair to be too pigmented so after I applied the chalk onto my ends, I took a towel and rubbed my hair between my fingers and the towel to smudge out and fade the color in my ends.
I was out of town for a couple weeks and came home to a dead bouquet of flowers, so I wanted to do something fun with them before I threw them out. (See our post on DIY bath bombs using dead/dried flowers here) I just clipped the flower stems about an inch down from the bug so I could have some stem to stick in my pony tail. The key to having the flowers stick in your hair is ratting and teasing your pony tail before you stick them in. You can even bobby pin them in behind the pony tail, just try to use ones that match your hair color so they blend in better. I found that teasing my hair was good as good.
I now want to buy every single color of hair chalk and do a cool rainbow look and braid my hair or something. I'd love to hear any recommendations for hair chalk or cool hairstyles!
P.S If you want a cheaper hair chalk to try out, there are some good ones at target for $4 here.
Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this post! Have a fabulous Saturday today!
