How to Stay Happy During the Winter Months
A lot of people think it is a myth that depression can affect people only a couple months out of the year, but when you have experienced it you know it's a real thing!
Every year around this time as the days start getting colder and shorter its hard not to feel a little depressed and down. Theres a lot less sun, its cold, the days are shorter, and there is also a lot of stress from the holidays! Sometimes there is no particular reason to feel down and depressed, but you can't seem to snap out of it! Ash and I are typically pretty happy people and yet we find ourselves getting into this depression mode like a lot of people do. Here are a few ways that we have decided help us from getting down in the dumps, and try to stay more happy during the winter.
It's hard to get the motivation to get your butt to the gym when its snowing and freezing outside, but if you are feeling in the slum this will definitely help! Im sure that we’ve all heard that endorphins make you more happy, and that's why you feel good after you work out and it is completely true! I won't go into all the scientific details about it, but if you are truly interested you should look it up! There are tons of scientific proof to back it up so if you're looking for a quick “pick me up”, this is it!
3. Spend time with people you enjoy!
Spending time with our family is one of our favorite things to do, and when we are with them we are constantly laughing and having a good time! They say when you are laughing and smiling that is when you are the happiest, and it even helps you live a longer healthier life! The holidays are great for this because there are a lot of events that happen during the holidays that bring all the people in your life together that you love the most, so embrace each moment with them!
4. Eat Healthy
This one is probably one of the hardest ones especially during this time of year! There are so many sweets, candies, and buttery goodness that is hard to resist. While this stuff is ok to eat in moderation, it's still important to give your body the nutrients that it needs to stay healthy and feeling its best!
5. Get dressed up
One of the best outfits to wear when it is cold and gloomy are oversized sweaters and sweatpants and just sit inside all day next to the fire. When it 30 degrees outside and snowing Its hard not to want to sit in home all day everyday in your comfiest clothes and just chill. While this is fine some of the time, it is important to get dressed up and feel like accomplishing something that day. I read somewhere that people who work from home should still get dressed up like they're going into the office everyday because it will make you work harder and be more motivated just by looking the part, and feeling like you are the part. Not sure how credible the website was that I read this from, but it definitely has some good points!
6. Write down something you are grateful for everyday
This is a big one especially if you are having a pity party while being depressed and thinking everything in life is going wrong. This is definitely something that happens to all of us, and as long as we don't stay in this state for too long, its OK! One thing that we've found that really helps put everything into perspective is to find things you are grateful for and write them down so you don't forget them. A lot of people are starting to do this on social media, but keep a journal of all the things you are grateful for and when you are having an especially hard day take a peek at those things and I bet it will help!
These are just a few ways that help us be positive and productive during the winter months! I must say, getting these cute sequin jackets definitely put a smile on our faces as well. ;) They are the cutest jackets, and they are totally in right now especially for all the fun holiday parties and celebrations coming up, this is the perfect party jacket!

Its so funny, I remember when Ash and I were little I absolutely hated when my mom made us match each other, and now its something we do on purpose! Most of the time at least. Ash and I shop together a lot and we tend to buy the same clothes A LOT of the time. There have been multiple events where we will show up wearing the same thing, and we'll just look at each other and laugh. Its one of the many things that make being best friends with your sister so fun!
This pink bomber jacket from Dance and Marvel is one of the cutest things we have gotten together! Its seriously so cute and fun to wear, and the little embellishments on the front and side of the arm are adorable! Ash and I have different personalities and it was fun to see how we both decided to style our outfits. Most things that we end up buying together that are the same end up getting styled completely different by each other, and its fun to see different things we can do with one item!
Accentuate that baby bump!
There are so many times during pregnancy where you just feel fat and bloated, but the times I feel most beautiful during my pregnancy is when I show off my big (big to me) belly! Here are a few tips on how to accentuate your adorable baby bump, and feel cute again! ;)
WEAR FORM FITTING TOPS
One top I have really grown to love before my pregnancy and even more during my pregnancy are my form fitting modbod layering tops. These are pretty much my go to top everyday! I love them because they are great to layer with, and they show off my baby bump which I love to look at! Form fitting tops are awesome because no one has to wonder if you are pregnant or just fat.. Not only that, but people love to see your cute baby bump, and its nothing that you should want to hide!
WEAR A WAIST BELT
Another way to show off that baby bump is to wear a high waisted belt that goes just above your bump. If you don't want a shirt that is too form fitting, this is a great way to still show off that belly without showing EVERYTHING off. Belts are great to wear with a loose dress, tunic, cardigan, or any other loose top/dress.
WEAR HORIZONTAL LINES
When it comes to wearing stripes it really does make a difference whether you choose horizontal lines or vertical lines. Its all about the ~ILLUSION~... Vertical lines tend to make you look short and fat, while horizontal lines are more slimming. The taller and slimmer you look while pregnant is never a bad thing!
WEAR BELOW THE KNEE DRESSES
If you're like me and you tend to gain weight in areas other than just your belly, you don't necessarily want to show off your legs and thighs to the world. A good compromise is to wear a form fitting, midi length dress or skirt with comfortable, movable fabric so you can still feel girly and dressy without having to show off parts of your body you would rather not accentuate!
These are just a few of my favorite go to outfits that I have found to show off my baby bump while still making me feel comfortable and beautiful! Please leave any comments or questions below!
22 weeks already! I can't believe how fast the time is flying!
After a long night watching the election, we both needed a break from all the media! It has been a crazy couple of days with the election going on, so today's walk through the park was much needed.
It was nice to walk outside in the sun and just not listen to the radio, tv or Facebook posts about the whole presidential election. Regardless of who our president is, we believe that we all need to come together as a country and fight for what is most important. Love and Our Freedom. Isn't that what the whole constitution and American life is about?
We feel like people are getting to hung up on the nitty gritty of things. We know that everything is going to workout, because good will prevail in the end. We don't want to get all political/religious on here, so our main message to convey is that we need to keep moving forward, keep our heads up and be the loving Americans that we are.
We hope that those who are heartbroken can be healed and those that are happy will keep that happiness alive and spread it to all those around them. We hope you enjoyed this short read and have a great rest of the week.
