Princess Bride is one of my all time favorite movies! I have always wanted to be Princes Buttercup but could never find the right dress so I made this costume last year. And like a day before Halloween. Lol. I am the biggest procrastinator when it comes to finding a costume so I decided to make mine. I thought it was going to take at least a week but it only took 3 hours! I just went to Jo-Ann's fabric bought about 3 1/2 yrds. of red satin fabric (I am 5'8" and as you can see this dress was still really long) ask the cutting ladies for their advice on how much to get because you need a good amount to make the flowy sleeves.
You can buy a pattern for the dress at the fabric store. The details for the belt are super simple. I bought 2 ft. of gold lace to tie around my waist and then about 3 ft. for the red/gold woven tassle. The belt really ties it all together so as long as you have some kind of belt, it will look great!
I made this whole dress for under $35. I was in luck when I bought the fabric because Jo-Ann's was having a 50% off fabric sale. And I used a coupon on top of it. So make sure to lookout for some coupons online to use. There are always some good ones! I hope you try this because I got so so so many compliments on this dress!
vehe new plaid line from Adam Lippes is amazing. I haven't always been a fan of plaid but I love this collection because it us subtle and classy. Everything from the duffle bags to the kitchen ware is so cute! Plaid is majorly trending this fall so why just limit your wardrobe to it? I love the plaid blankets to use as a couch blanket or a throw on the bed or using the table ware for the fall season and thanksgiving. Plaid can add some holiday spice to anyones home and give it that homey/classy vibe. So make sure to check out the line while it lasts in Target!
I would do it sooner than later because pretty much all the good sizes and items at the Utah stores have been snatched. I am in Vegas for the weekend so I visited Target and they have a lot of product still on hand and good sizes too! So side note, if you are out of state you might have a better chance of getting the good items in store. But if you can't find them then it's available online too! Below I have all the links for you to get your Adam Lippes Plaid items! Hope you enjoy!
