I was talking to my mom the other day about all of the "high tech gadgets", as she calls them, I have for Reign. We were talking about the items that I couldn't live without this past month, and as I was thinking about it, I really do use a lot of "high tech" items that I am so blessed to have! My mom basically just had her breasts, and arms as her gadgets. Lol. We are so lucky to have baby monitors, carriers, bouncy swings, dock a tots, bottle warmers and mama roos (just to name a few) to help make motherhood a little easier! Seriously though, how did the pioneers and people back then do it?! Let alone having a baby without an epidural! Yikes. I feel super blessed to have so much help from modern technology.
My heart breaks a little thinking about when I have to put Reign in her crib. It is coming closer than I think! Right now she sleeps in bed with us in her DockAtot and has a bassinet by my bedside that I will put her in sometimes as well. Even when she is 5 inches from my face in her DockAtot, I check on her every couple minutes. I can't help it!
I love putting the lollipop camera on her bassinet or sitting it up on on the nightstand while she is swinging in her mama roo. I put the camera on while she is sleeping or when I need to get some work done or cleaning around the house.
There is an app that connects over wifi to the camera, it is great, easy and efficient. I love being able to access the camera through my phone, since my phone is always on me. I am still easing into letting other people other then my husband watch Reign while I go out for errands and leave the house. But it is great, because I can watch her through my app while I am out and about! The app has many features other then just watching live video feed. If Reign starts to cry, fuss or move, it will automatically detect that something is wrong and make a 30 second video of the event which is saved on the app. One of my favorite things about the app is that I can invite family or friends to watch or share live videos/pictures of Reign. My mom lives in California, so I can invite her on the app and she can watch Reign sleep or hanging out via live stream! So it's like she isn't missing out on anything :)
My other FAVORITE thing about this camera is the design. Isn't this camera just the cutest?! It comes in three different colors, cotton candy pink, turquoise, and pistachio. The pink color goes perfectly with Reign's nursery, so i obviously had to go with that one :) The sleekness and ease of transferring the camera to different parts of the house is easily the best part about the camera. The handle is flexible and will twist and turn to any shape you need for wrapping around a crib, wall mount or sitting it down by itself.
I feel like every mom is going to need a camera at some point! It helps ease anxiety while your away from your baby, and it can help bring family together through live streaming :) I love it because while my husband is out of town, he can drop/spy in on Reign while she is sleeping and talk to her through the camera :)
You can check out more information about the lollipop baby monitor on their website here and you can buy it through Amazon .
Hope you all have a great weekend! Baby Reign and I are back in New Orleans until next week, then we will be back in Utah for good! Hurricane Harvey is on its way to Texas right now, crossing our fingers and saying prayers it doesn't hit us here in New Orleans!
You hear a lot of pregnancy horror stories, tips, tricks, and unwanted advice from a lot of people, but the one thing Ash and I were really hoping was all a myth was all the hair you should prepare to lose after having your baby. Unfortunately for us, its true! Sigh.... It literally felt like days after having our babies we started to lose our hair and there was nothing we could do about it. After a few months of trying everything to keep our hair as healthy as possible, we both finally found what works for us! We both have very different hair. Ashlyn was blessed with very thick, luscious, locks and I unfortunately got the shorter end of the stick with thin, brittle hair. Although my hair is on the thinner side, I have grown to love it so much more now that I can see how healthy and strong it has become! So for all of you with hair on the thinner side, take a look at my hair regimen, and some of my favorite products. For the rest of you already blessed with thick, luscious hair, scroll down to Ashlyn's regimen!
SARAH'S TOP 3 HAIR PRODUCTS FOR THIN HAIR:
#1: Rosarco Milk
I absolutely love this product! I got this product in a fit Fab Fun box and tried it out for a few weeks, and now Im completely hooked! I spray this in my hair every time I wash it, and sometimes in between washes when I feel like I need a little extra conditioning. I love this product because it is so lightweight, and it doesn't feel like I have loads of product in my hair. After using this Rosarco milk for a few months now, I have noticed my hair is smoother, thicker, and feels healthier! It also smells amazing!
#2: Marula Oil
Typically I don't like using oils on my hair because I feel like it leaves it greasy, and too shiny. I also feel like when I put oils in my hair, especially the hair that touches my face, it makes my face more sensitive and I hate it! This Marula Oil is seriously the first oil that I have found that I like! I use this oil on the ends of my hair every night before I go to bed, and it has helped tremendously with my split ends! I have a nasty habit of picking them and breaking them every chance I get. It is also super lightweight, and I don't feel like it irritates my skin. This product gets two thumbs up!
#3: Ultimate Color Repair Triple Rescue
This product is a must for anyone that uses any sort of heating tools. Any time I blow dry, curl, straighten, crimp, whatever, to my hair I always start with this product and spray the crap out of my hair. It protects hair from the damage that extreme heat can have, and it also protect colored hair. It leaves my hair feeling soft, smooth, and manageable without feeling like I have a build up of product. This one also smells AMAZING!
ASHLYN'S FAVORITE PRODUCTS:
#1: Biolage Keratindose Renewal Spray
I have been using biolage renewal spray product for 7 months now, and SWEAR by it. I love it because I can use it on dry or wet hair. I have really thick, tangly hair so I spray it after the shower and use my wet brush (which is easily my favorite hair brush because it cuts my brushing time in half)
#2: Prenatal pills or Biotin
I have been taking supplements for 5 years now, and this is easily the best and simplest way to getting your hair strong and long. I have come to find that a prenantal works better for me, and I have seen the most difference in my hair since taking it. I get mine from Costco, Nature Made brand, because I get a lot!
#3: Hairfinity & Moroccan Oil Serum
I use a serum every time I wash my hair and when I am styling because it helps smooth and nourish my dry hair. Living in Utah with the dry heat has taken a toll on my hair so giving it as much thirst as I can has been the best way to keep it strong and healthy. I have used the Moroccan oil for years and years. And just came across this hairfinity one that I really like too!
My baby girl has arrived to the world! Reign was born on Aug. 2 at 5:30 pm. My due date was Aug. 1, so I thought for sure she wasn't going to come until my scheduled induced date lol. The labor and delivery process could not have been more amazing! My water broke that morning at 7 am. I literally had just woken up, sat up in bed and heard a popping sound, then felt a gush of water. My hubby was barely awake when I told him my water broke. Within seconds he was up and so excited! He could not believe it was really happening. He got all frantic and giddy, asking what I need and what we need to do to get to the hospital.
I got the epidural right when we got to the hospital. In the beginning I thought I wanted to try going natural, but after going through my intestinal infection while I was 8 months pregnant, and experiencing the extreme pain with that, I knew I just wanted to be pain free and enjoy the birth of my sweet girl. I was in labor from 8:30 am-5:30 pm. I progressed about 2 cm every 2 hours, and started pushing at 5 pm and had Reign at 5:35 pm. The moment she was placed in my arms I just started bawling so hard. I could not believe my sweet girl was finally in my arms and all this was real! It always seemed like she was so far away and that I would never meet her. Anyone else feel that way while they were pregnant? Now that she is here all I can do is stare at her and kiss her sweet cheeks all day. Who knew you could love someone so much?!?
I had so much fun decorating Reign's nursery the last few weeks of my pregnancy. I was in full nesting mode and wanted to make everything perfect for her. It helped the last few weeks (which seem to last 134080 years) of pregnancy pass a little faster!
There are so many things that are needed for a babies arrival, I have a couple of must haves that have made my life so much easier! My number one item that I use everyday/night and LOVE is the DockATot. This is a multi-functional lounger, co-sleeper and playtime lounger, that you can basically put anywhere. It is easily transferable, and super lightweight. I love all the fabric styles and that they are 100% cotton. I have the Deluxe version which is for babies 0-6 months. The Grand size is for 9-36 months. It is great for transitioning babies to their crib or toddlers to their bed.
I 100% recommend this product for every momma. I love it because I can put Reign right between my husband and I. I am right there when she cries, and can easily feed and console her. It is a lifesaver!!
This last week with Reign here has been a dream :) If you have any suggestions for this new mommy, or products that helped you, I would love to here!
