So, now that Ashlyn and I are both expecting new babies, we have definitely started thinking more about what we are going to need when they are born, and so many people have given us some great advice of baby must haves! Ashlyn, along with some of my other sisters threw an amazing baby shower for me this weekend, and I got everything that my new baby will need when she is born! We have great friends and family who give us lot of tips on what things have worked for them, and what items them recommend for new born babies. Here are a few of my top favorite items I got from my baby shower, and items that friends and family of Ash and I have told us were musts for them!
Boppy Nursing Pillow
Im really excited about this pillow because it can be used for multiple purposes! You can nurse with it, use it to cradle the baby while your busy, and the baby can use it up to 9+ months. :) Anything to give momma a little hands free moment is at the top of my list!
All of our mom friends have said that this is a must! Not only does it give your breasts a little break from the baby, but it also allows someone else to feed the baby when you are not available.
Infant to Toddler Rocker
This is one gift we have also heard is one of the best life savers for new moms! Babies love to be held and rocked, and this does everything in one! Mommas need some 'me' time also, and these rockers sooth the baby, and keep them calm while you check some things off your household chore list!
These are definitely a must must! Most babies are going to go through two to three of these a day so you'll want to have at least an extra handful of these lying around.
Noise Cancelation Machine
Babies are use to the noise from inside the womb which is not complete silence. Have you ever noticed that you sleep better in the car or on airplanes because of the natural humming sound that they make? This is exactly like that and this will help sooth your baby to sleep, and the great thing about it is that its portable so you can take it anywhere!
The items listed above are some of our tops favorites, but there are also a lot of other important items every new born will need. Here is a list of some other important must haves to keep in mind when you are planning for your first baby. :)
-odor-less natural laundry detergent
-fitted sheets for crib
-infant car seat
-rattles or other baby toys
-syringe for sucking mucus
We are seriously so excited to announce that Ashlyn is expecting a baby coming August 3rd!! We had always talked about being pregnant together and it actually happened! We are about 5 months apart from each other, and it is so fun to be able to share this experience together especially since it is the first for both of us, not to mention all the pregnancy cravings we will be able to eat together now! ;)
One of our biggest weaknesses lately have been sweets! Anything with lots and lots of sugar is something we just can't resist. Anyone else obsessed with cupcake wars on the food network channel?? Okay, well every time we watch that show together we get the biggest sweet tooth and have to have a cupcake at that moment! Luckily we live fairly close to the Sweet Tooth Fairy cupcake shop in downtown Provo so we headed down there and had ourselves a delicious cupcake!
Ashlyn here- I seriously had no idea what to expect getting pregnant. I just thought I would get pregnant (actually not that easily) and boom, all fun and games. But I really got hit with a rude awakening. I am 13 weeks now, but for the last 8 weeks I have been super sick. I spent a whole week in bed, due to nausea. I had no idea that this was what a lot of women went through! I don't know if I just had it worse or was more of a wimp, but it really took a toll on me. I had no energy to get out of bed and do simple tasks around the house or running errands. Eating made me throw up and even my prenatal pill was hard to keep down. Just making food was to painful to do, so I ended up losing more than 10 pounds during that time. Now that I am just getting over my first trimester, it has really settled down. The waves of sickness come and go, and I still don't have much of an appetite, but I am so grateful that I can do more normal things.
Currently I have had a cold for the past 2 1/2-3 weeks. My doctor said I am fine taking Tylenol Cold medicine, but it still makes me a bit nervous. Any advice on what to take when your sick during pregnancy?? Or holistic remedies? My sister told me about peppermint and oregano oil. All things aside I am soooo grateful and excited to be pregnant! It is such a blessing! We can't believe that we are pregnant together too. We would have never thought!!
Thanks for reading guys! Any information or advice is so appreciated!!

So at last, it is 2017! I don't know about you guys but we are so happy to have the holidays over. Don't get me wrong, I love celebrating Christmas and New Years but there is just a nice breath of fresh air that comes with having it all done! Plus, I was sick for the last 2 weeks so that wasn't to fun!
We both got some great gifts, and loved watching our friends and family open our gifts too. That is probably the best part, watching their smiles when they open your gift.
Watches are one of those gifts that is expensive but also hard to choose a style for someone. So I decided to gift myself with this Armitron watch because it is sleek, chic and affordable! I have friends who will spend hundreds and even thousands on watches, that...to be honest...aren't that cute. I love Armitron because they have many styles and are affordablw. I got a fitess watch they I always wear to the gym and it is water proof! Its great for timing my ab workouts, swimming and keeping track on the treadmill. I also got a fashion watch that has white leather and is so versatile. You can check out these super cute and affordable watches here.
We hope you guys had a safe and great holiday vacation! Enjoy the beginning of the new year!!
